IMO ECDIS model course 1.27

CERTIFICATE

Target group: Active navigators, who are operating ECDIS today or planning to operate ECDIS in the future*. Local administrations or vetting administrations might require the OOW (Officer of the Watch) to hold an ECDIS certificate in accordance with IMO model course 1.27. The training course is generic and hence covers general operation of ECDIS regardless of the brands of ECDIS installed on the ship they will be operating.
*IMO recommends that all masters and officers in charge of a navigational watch (OOW) on a ship fitted with ECDIS should have completed an ECDIS course.

Duration: 5 days

Fee includes: Training materials, training using simulator, lunch and refreshments during the training course.

Description: This ECDIS training provides the trainees with knowledge of the ECDIS as a system, the ECDIS operation, electronic chart materials and practical navigation by using ECDIS. In addition, the training course includes terms and conditions for paperless navigation.

The training course provides the navigator with the knowledge and tools to safely transfer from traditional paper chart navigation to electronic chart navigation by use of ECDIS.

The training course not only focuses on the many advantages and safety features obtained by operating an ECDIS, but also covers the limitations you must be aware of when operating an ECDIS.

The training is concluded with 3 compulsory tests. Upon successful completion of the tests the navigator is issued a certificate, which confirms the successful completion of the ECDIS course, meeting the requirements of the IMO Model Course 1.27, reviewed by DNV SeaSkill™.

The training complies with the IMO STCW-95 code.
